Working With Embrace Texas
Embrace Texas is an organization based in McKinney, TX that has worked to support children in the foster care system and their caregivers for over two decades. Embrace Texas aims to provide each child lingering in the foster care system and those who “age out” of the system the love and stability of a family by matching families, providing support, housing, and care to children, and respite care, support groups, and programs to caregivers. Embrace Texas’s mission aligned beautifully with EFA’s in regards to its efforts to support the overlooked youth who are lacking the love and care they each deserve.
Our Purpose
A crucial part of EFA’s mission is to aid youth emotionally and socially, and the beginnings of Love For All came in light of that goal and wanting to engage in pursuits that would provide emotional care and safety to youth. We sought to extend our support to the youth in our community who are in need of something past material needs and physical support: love and compassion, and that’s exactly what we were able to accomplish with Embrace Texas. Providing emotional compassion and encouragement can sometimes be one of the most difficult ways to support an individual, but it is also the most priceless form of compassion one can offer, especially to a child, whose emotions are the most vulnerable and impressionable.
Spreading Love
In order to work with Embrace Texas and provide EFA’s support to the foster children of our DFW community, EFA took part in volunteering with Embrace Texas for its regional Child to Family Connection Event last in June 2024. The purpose of this event was to match families with more than 30 kids who were still in the foster care system by informing and encouraging interested caregivers to embrace these wonderful kids into their beautiful families. We were able to help Embrace Texas prepare for the event beforehand and participate in facilitating the event as it took place. Being a part of this event was an absolutely surreal experience and it was so beautiful to have had a small helping hand in uniting families with foster children through love and compassion. We will continue our journey working with Embrace Texas, and we hope to open our doors to invite more EFA members and local youth to come together to support the foster youth of our community with Embrace Texas.
